Photo: commemorative event in Rumbula

On November 30 and December 8, 1941, the Nazis have killed in Rumbula forest more than 25,000 Latvian Jews from the Riga Ghetto and approximately 1,000 German Jews transported here by train. Every year Council of Jewish Communities of Latvia holds a commemorative event at the memorial in Rumbula. This year it was organized on November 30. The ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece, members of the Saeima, Former prisoner of Riga ghetto and concentration camp Kaiserwald Margers Vestermanis, Ambassador of Israel Lironne Bar Sadeh, the diplomatic corps, Rabbi of Riga synagogue Elijohu Krumer, Students of Riga S. Dubnov Jewish Secondary School, members of the Jewish community and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
