The Jewish Community of Latvia would like to thank all those who took part in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the massacre of the Riga ghetto prisoners, visited the Rumbula Memorial, joined the ceremony live and lit a candle at the Freedom Monument.
On November 30 at the memorial in Rumbula, the audience was addressed by the President of Latvia Egils Levits, Speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece, Prime minister Krišjānis Kariņš, German Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas, Minister for Defence Artis Pabriks, Mayor of Riga Mārtiņš Staķis.
The event was run by Dmitry Krupnikov, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Jewish Communities of Latvia, prayers were read by the rabbi of the Riga synagogue Elijohu Krumer and a member of the community Eli Loiberg.
Minister of Justice Jānis Bordāns has sent a letter to the Jewish community in memory of those killed in Rumbula.
