The Riga Committee brings together more than 60 German and Czech cities, as well as Vienna, Austria, from which more than 25,000 Jews were deported to Riga. Most of them were murdered here.
On July 4th, the delegation participated in a Genocide Memorial Day ceremony at the memorial on Gogol Street, then participants visited the site of the first concentration camp, the Mazümprämuiz (Jungfernhof).
On July 5th at 9:30 a.m., the delegation will hold a memorial service at the Bikernieki memorial, where most of the deported Jews were killed in the woods. Bikernieki will also host a permanent exhibition on the Holocaust in Europe and Latvia.
On July 5th at 16.00, you are invited to attend the opening of an exhibition of the German and Austrian embassies on the deportation of Jews to Riga (in the square near the Museum of Occupation).
