On December 28th a Hanukkah celebration, organized by the Council of Jewish Communities of Latvia took place at the Peitavshul synagogue in Riga. The celebration was attended by President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis, former President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers with spouse, Minister of Defence Raimonds Bergmanis, other officials and diplomatic corps, heads of religious confessions, representatives of culture and science, and many others. Guests discovered the history of Hanukkah, took part in the lighting of candles and enjoyed traditional festive meal.
