On 19 September, within the framework of the Riga Jewish Community project “Maor” (Hebrew for “lamp, light”), an event dedicated to the Jewish festival of Sukkot, or the festival of the huts, took place at the Riga Peitava Street Synagogue. The participants, together with Rabbi Eliyoh Krumer, got to know the peculiarities of the holiday, visited the sukkah (hut) installed in the inner courtyard of the Riga Peitava Street Synagogue and tasted the traditional holiday delicacies.
The event was supported by the Uniting History Foundation. The Riga Jewish Community project “Maor” offers a programme in Latvian that allows you to learn more about Jewish traditions and history, discover your Jewish roots and meet interesting people.
